William Shatner'€™s loss is Busy Philipps€™ gain.

Rising star Ryan Devlin, who recently lost his job as Shatner’s titular son on CBS’ laugh-challenged new fall sitcom $#*! My Dad Says, is poised to rejoin ABC'™s Cougar Town this fall for multiple episodes, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Last week at press tour, exec producer Bill Lawrence strongly hinted in an interview with EW.com that Devlin would reprise his role as Smith, newbie lawyer and love interest to Philipps€™ Laurie.

Are Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox Reuniting on Cougar Town? E-mail
Friday, 06 August 2010 22:05

It looks like Jennifer Aniston will be there for Friends co-star Courteney Cox when Cougar Town returns this fall.

Aniston, 41, is near a deal to guest-star in an early Season 2 episode, Entertainment Weekly reports. She follows in the footsteps of fellow Friends star Lisa Kudrow, who appeared as a volatile dermatologist in the middle of last season.

After starring together on Friends for 10 years, Aniston and Cox last shared the screen (and a lip-lock) on Cox's FX drama Dirt in 2007.

An ABC rep for the series refused to confirm the report.

'Cougar Town': A sitcom by any other name... E-mail
Wednesday, 23 June 2010 06:03

Ever since ABC's Courteney Cox-starring comedy "Cougar Town" debuted last fall, there have been critics who objected to the show's name.

Among them: show creator Bill Lawrence.

Lawrence will tell pretty much anyone who will listen that he'd like to change the name of the show. That's because some people in focus groups told the studio they would never watch a show called "Cougar Town," because they don't think a show about a 40-something woman shagging younger men is appropriate for prime-time TV. (We're guessing they also don't allow Balzac novels to pollute their houses.)

But once these name-haters were forced to watch an episode as part of the focus-group gag, they said they would watch it. Yeah, uh huh -- until they saw the episode in which Andy, the neighbor of Jules (Courteney Cox), whines that his new baby, Stan, doesn't look like him. Whereupon Andy's wife whips off Stan's diaper to reveal private parts described by one bystander as "elephant trunk"-like which, Andy's wife says coyly, proves Stan is Andy's child.

Tom Selleck Wants a Role in 'Cougar Town' E-mail
Thursday, 10 June 2010 22:08

Tom Selleck is appealing for a role in Courteney Cox's hit show "Cougar Town" - because he's desperate to work with his former "friends" co-star again. The "Magnum, P.I." actor played Cox's on/off onscreen boyfriend, Dr. Richard Burke, in the long running comedy series and appeared in three seasons opposite the actress.

Selleck admits he has always wanted to score another role opposite Cox and would happily appear in her new TV show, about older women chasing younger men. He tells E! Online, "I'd love to work with Courteney again. That would be fun. I've watched (Cougar Town) a couple of times and Courteney is courageous and makes really bold choices. I've always loved that about her."

But Selleck, 65, admits TV bosses would struggle to find him a role on the show, because of the 20-year age-gap between him and 45-year-old Cox. He adds, "What would I play? She wouldn't be a cougar with me."
