Dr. Amy Evans is the meanest but the best dermatologist in town, therefore Jules and Ellie do anything to get an appointment with her despite the harsh ridicule. But when Jules finds out that Dr. Evans is dating Bobby, and Jules is determined to stand up to her and protect him. Meanwhile, Travis starts working for Barb but turns out that is more that what he bargained for.

 ABC’s hit Courteney Cox sitcom Cougar Town returns on Wednesday, January 6, with its first fresh episode of the new year and the new decade. Called “Rhino Skin,” the episode will function as a reunion of sorts since it features guest star Lisa Kudrow (pictured above at right), Cox’s former colleague on the long-running NBC sitcom Friends.

 If you’re not a regular Cougar Town watcher and tuned in last night to see the much-advertised Courteney Cox-Lisa Kudrow (Valerie Cherish, I still miss you!) reunion, congratulations! You caught one helluva funny episode — and have hopefully added this gem to your “series recording” list. That said, while the erstwhile Friends were terrific (as anticipated) no one scored more laughs than Busy Philipps as clueless assistant Laurie. In fact, Philipps was so genius last night, I’ve got to break out her best zingers into their own “Top 6″ subset. Without further ado…

A review of last night's "Cougar Town" - a show that continues to display an impressive creative growth curve - coming up just as soon as I emerge from my chrysalis...
The headline news for "Rhino Skin" is obviously the quasi-"Friends" reunion of Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow, and that part of the episode worked just fine. If you watched "The Comeback" (which I couldn't stand but respected, if that makes sense) or have seen Kudrow's indie film work, you know she was the most versatile, fearless member of the "Friends" cast. So here she had no problem throwing herself into the role of vicious dermatologist Dr. Evans, and there wasn't even a hint of the Phoebe/Monica dynamic in her scenes with Cox as Jules.
