The theme of this week's episode of Cougar Town was definitely cheating as it tied the main story lines of "Wake Up Time" together. The main cheaters? Like father like son, it was Bobby and Travis. When Jules learned that Travis was dumped, she had to hop into "Jules" mode and be there to comfort her son. However, after learning that it was because Travis cheated on Kylie, it clearly brought up some pent up feelings from Bobby, especially when she learned he only cheated on her.
From there, the episode really became about Jules, leaving the petty high school romance where it belongs... in the background. We saw a brief cameo by Scott Foley, reprising his role as Jeff, only to reveal that he also "cheated" on Jules before they became exclusive. We love this guy and any excuse to bring him back on scene. Speaking of guest stars, Jules' issues even found a way to break up Sara and Grayson. That's a shame because Sheryl Crow, besides always looking gorgeous, was really starting to blend together with the rest of the cast.

But when Jules discovers the truth about the break-up, she comes to an unwelcome realization about herself. Meanwhile, Sara considers whether Jules threatens her relationship with Grayson and turns to Ellie for guidance; and Andy searches for any resemblance between himself and son Stan.

 Usually, when I review a show, I try to incorporate some of the key quotes into my reviews. This method works well for shows like 'How I Met Your Mother' and 'The Office,' and it worked well for Bill Lawrence's other show, 'Scrubs.' But 'Cougar Town' just doesn't lend itself to heavy quoting. Not that the episodes aren't full of funny lines -- who wouldn't laugh at the term "pursey-whipped?" But when I watch the show, I'm more interested in how the characters are relating to each other and how the ensemble comes together from week to week. I'm just fascinated by the transformation this show has undergone in its first season, from a show centering on Courteney Cox and her character's issues with dating younger men to more of a show about a loving -- albeit a bit odd -- extended family. And this episode was one of the best illustrations of that transformation.
